The growing problems of nursing home neglect and abuse are truly sad reflections upon our society. Our elders deserve good care, protection and dignity, as do our veterans. What corporate nursing home operators have been allowed to give them is despicable. We have prosecuted 26 nursing home cases, producing recoveries in 25 of them. We are committed, perhaps like in no other cases, to the dogged pursuit of these claims because the residents and their families are so helpless, and so reliant upon us,
We also feel that everyone has to make their claims because the industry, despite state regulations, has escaped most of its supposed regulatory oversight due to the extensive political influence of its wealthy operators. One operator known to us, who lives high on a hill (literally), operates dozens of corporations, each one of which owns and operates a single nursing home. The labyrinth of corporations is to protect him from liability. He has asserted he is uninvolved in the care provided in the homes, but the corporations are each underinsured against liability due to laws he and other operators got passed to allow for it. It’s a liability avoidance strategy, and it’s ingenious. But it’s effect is to hurt and undercompensate helpless victims and their families. It is a threat to the elderly. This is how it happens, and why it happens so much. So it’s critical that everyone who has such a claim makes it. Everyone needs to put their own “brick in the wall” to help stop neglect and abuse.
And again, there is a two-year statute of limitations period for the filing of these cases, so CALL EARLY. And, as always, no recovery, no fee.
